Baby Baby Boomers have always been considered staunch fans of film and have traditionally made up a large part of movie theater viewers. But given the time and the opportunity, we are spending more time watching DVD movies at home.
The DVD technology today has made the quality of home movie viewing incomparable. The DVDs available on the market are undoubtedly better than the VCDs of old. Now we can get the effects and experience that were so long only possible in movie theatres.
So many Baby Boomers are turning to the Internet for help and have discovered the fascinating world of DVD rental. Imagine an online listing of all the best movies you have ever heard about, in DVD version, filed alphabetically. And the best part is that they are made affordable as they are rented out, as opposed to being sold.
Now, Baby Boomers no longer have to personally go to the DVD rental store to pick up the movie of our choice. We can now order on a website the desired movies from an online DVD rental service in the convenience of our own homes. The service would send across the desired DVDs by physical mail. The mail packet usually even contains a return paid envelope, which we would conveniently use to send back the DVDs after we have viewed them.
Most online DVD rental services offer some variation of this basic premise as far as DVD rentals go. Think of it as an extension of the old video library, but in DVD versions. In this case we would simply browse through an extensive online movie catalogue to find the desired movies and place an order - in just a few days we will be enjoying our movies.
Some rental services will allow you to retain the DVD for as long as you like for no extra charge (except for the monthly service charge), while other DVD rental services have a two or three day period before which you have to return the DVD, or pay more as a late fee. Even with all these additional charges, paying a small monthly membership ensures that we get the DVDs for as little as a dollar a view - as opposed to the prohibitive cost you would have to pay to buy them.
A couple of the most popular online movie rental services in America are www.blockbuster.com and www.netflix.com. They maintain a considerable online library with literally tens of thousands of quality DVD movies offering Baby Boomers just about any movie that we desire - conveniently delivered to our front door in just a few days.
